How can things be so good and so bad at the same time?
When in ministry sometimes you encounter difficulty and spiritual heaviness. The idea that you can go from pure genuine joy to a heaviness that can suck you dry in a matter of one step is crazy to me, but I felt it.
Working at an orphanage where you feel a lack of joy, care and love is devastating. You do all you can but your heart breaks knowing that what you’re bringing may not stay. (Trust in the Lord.) Tasks become difficult but you learn to press through and lean on God. Trusting God when feeling hopeless is crucial and also very hard. To see a lack of action after giving excellent exhortation starts to make you think, what is the point anymore? However, we cannot keep from speaking what the Holy Spirit gives to us. “
If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” James 4:17
We learned how to walk in what God gives us even when it is difficult to do. Our aim is to grow and help others grow, we can’t help others if we keep our mouths shut. So, we walk in confidence with what the Lord gives us and trust him to take care of those we’ve helped long after we’re gone.
