What does that mean?
While in the Philippines my team is working with an orphan/school ministry and as one of the boys was looking over my jewelry and he asked me about them. I have two giving keys and he thought it was weird when I said they did not go to anything, and then I told him they had words on them. I asked if he could read the one and he said no, so I told him it says fight. He then asked me what that meant… That is kind of a difficult question to answer in a way a child can understand. So I told him that it means that when things get hard I have to remember to keep fighting and to this he asked again what I meant by that (not in those words exactly haha). I asked him if he has ever been sad and to see the positives in the day and that is how you fight. At first he said his English is not that good and that he did not understand, but then he proceeded to say he was joking. I laughed because I had no idea how else to explain it.
This instance just kind of hit me a little, it was a surprising question but only because it was not an obvious answer. I am not just fighting physically, but mentally, spiritually and for the souls of others. We are in a battle and we cannot just sit on the bench or in the bleachers, we have to learn what it means to participate and how God wants us to participate. If that means going around the world as a missionary… do it, if it means starting something in your own city downtown… do it, if it means helping out at an assisted living home… do it. Lets not sit around, lets do something, lets FIGHT.
