EMBRACE THE STANK!
(First Training Camp blog post)
So I was in Gainsville, GA for the week at training camp and when they told us “Embrace the stank,” they were not kidding. I think most of us took 2 showers or less for the entire week, those showers were bucket showers which meant that the weather being in the 40’s and all when we wake up and go to bed that those showers were close enough to call freezing.
One of our scenarios consisted of losing half of our squads packs (there are 53 of us) as if they were lost via flight miss information or what have you. So that was an automatic same clothes for two days in a row and then the next night we simulated being at the airport which lead to three days in the same clothes…. feel my drift, I wasn’t the only one either. I’m a super cleanly person, I get it from my mom! But surprisingly this didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would, I knew God was teaching us something in the process so I just, “Embraced the stank!” We all smelled, felt dirty, wanted real showers, but dealt with what we were given. Praise God we made it! Now we have a whole year to look forward of stinking…. EW!
