I am officially 7621 days old. In 48 more days, not only will I be 7678 days old, I will also be leaving for the world race. The day before my 21st birthday I will grab my bags and say a big eleven month goodbye to my family and friends.
48 days really isn’t that long. There are a lot of things you can do in 48 days. You could join a dangerous crash diet program for less than 48 days. You could break a bad habit in only 28 days. 48 days ago was October 1. 48 days can go by in the blink of an eye, but 48 days is also long enough for those nerves to really set in. So as that anxiety sorts to grow for my fellow racers and me, I decided to take that nerve racking number 48 and find some peace in it.
Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve H im only.'” (Luke 4:8 NASB)
In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety. (Psalms 4:8 NASB)
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:8 NASB)
You are already filled, you have already become rich, you have become kings without us; and indeed, I wish that you had become kings so that we also might reign with you. (1 Corinthians 4:8 NASB)
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. (Philippians 4:8 NASB)
I’m going to spend these next 48 days focusing on what is true, honorable, right, pure, and lovely instead of dwelling on my nerves.
