Would you like to change the world from the comfort of your own home? Are you a fan of super comfy T-shirts with cool designs? Are you a human being? If you answered yes to any of these questions, keep reading! (Ha, got you with that last one, you have to keep reading)
As I’m sure most of you know by now, or maybe not, that’s okay, next year I’m putting college on hold to do something that I feel God has been calling me to do for a long time. I’m taking a gap year to do the World Race! The World Race gap year program consists of a 9 month mission trip during which I’ll travel to 3 different regions of the world and spend 3 months in each doing mission work that will change the lives of the people I meet by introducing them to this awesome man Jesus through service. Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, and spread the Gospel, that’s what I’m setting out to do.
I was drawn to the World Race by something I can’t explain, a calling that was screaming my name saying “Emma, I have something great planned for you!” But for a long time, I was scared to pull my hands away from my ears because I was told that graduating high school and going directly to college was the only way, but it’s not! (I do, however, have every intention of going to college, just not yet)
Over the years I’ve put a lot of time into service work: volunteering with Bakas, a horses for the handicapped center, feeding the homeless with my YoungLife, volunteering as a cook at Southwind, a YoungLife camp, and dedicating a month of my summer to serve as a work crew girl at a Christian youth camp, LLYC. I also traveled to Nicaragua last year on a service trip with my school, a trip that changed my heart forever, and I leave this Saturday for the Dominican Republic! All of these experiences, I realized, have been training me for something far greater.
But, before I can even dream of stepping on a plane set to land halfway across the world, I need your help and support! I’m reaching out to family, friends, strangers, anyone because I can’t do this alone. Acts 20:35 says “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” I’m not feeding you verses to make you feel like you have to give, you sure don’t, but I just want to remind you that we are so incredibly lucky to live the lives we do. To have food on the table every night, to not have to walk miles for water, to be surrounded by family and friends that love us so well. I need you to join me in changing the world, that’s right, join me! My first fundraising project, that will be followed by many more I’m sure, is selling some awesome T-shirts. By purchasing a T-shirt, donating some money (every penny counts), or, most importantly, praying for me, YOU WILL CHANGE THE WORLD!
55% cotton, 45% polyester, 100% life changing, guaranteed!
If you have any questions about the fundraising process, what the World Race is, why I feel called to participate, or you’d like to order a T-shirt, check out my “Call Me, Beep Me” (aka Contact Me) page.
