I have been in Jefferys bay for two weeks now!! It has been so amazing. This blog is something I wrote on a bumpy flight from Doha to Johannesburg!!

My squad left Monday morning from our hotel at launch to start our long journey to Jeffery’s Bay. We first took a 14 hour bus to DC (back home for me), then a 12 hour flight to Doha, Qatar. Now we are on our 8 hour flight to Johannesburg, then we will take a short flight to Port Elizabeth and then a car to Jeffery’s Bay. This travel ‘day’ has been so long. The first two days were so full of moving parts and we hadn’t even left the States yet. I felt like we were moving so slow. We would rush to get to one checkpoint to relax and then rush to the next checkpoint, over and over again. However I am reminded in these times that Jesus is still at work. There is a reason for everything. This long travel day was so that part of our squad would be prayed over in a random Greyhound bus station at 4am, even though their bus was supposed to depart at 3am. While in Dulles airport I met a girl from Thailand and we got to know each other and she taught me about Thai culture. In Doha airport we met a South African man attending college in Florida. We got to listen to him talk about this issues within our own education system and how he wants to fix it. He believes that history is the key. If history is taught with passion and with truth, our world would be doing better. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Then another woman stepped in and said that human nature repeats itself and the only way to help our world is by Jesus Christ. Not quite sure where I stand but I think there it truth to both arguments. Yes, we need to be educated, but can anything truly change about our world without Jesus?

History for Americans is skewed. Our education system has decided to not own up to the things we have done in our past. Children, the future of the world, are unaware of their capability to tear people apart because we don’t share the entire past, we don’t share the entire truth. We don’t share Jesus.

I stopped writing after this because I thought it was done. But reading back over it now, I think it’s true. There can be a lot of growth from sharing the truth. But sometimes vulnerability is hard. I pray for restoration and honesty as our world continues to live.

Also, I would love for you to join me in prayer for my fundraising. God has been faithful in getting me this far, and he will continue to do so. I am currently $5,500 away from being fully funded!!
