Hello!
If this is the question you asked me when I told you about the world race, this post will (hopefully) answer that question. The short answer is that I will be sharing the love of Jesus with other people around the world. The full answer is a bit more complex than that. I will be living in a close community with my teammates while we travel the world. My team will partner with the local ministries in each country we are in. While we are there, we will contribute to what the local ministry is already doing. Below is a breakdown of activities racers have been known to do in each country on my route as told by Adventures in Missions (the organization that runs the WR programs).
Romania- Our partners love relational ministry and ask Racers to spend lots of time getting to know people over coffee, dinner, or long walks. In this country, I will likely get the opportunity to share my faith while passing out eyeglasses and Bibles in the local language. There’s also a large Romani population (often unkindly referred to as gypsies). These people are often rejected and discriminated against. I might find myself spending time in these communities, getting to know their people, and sharing the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Costa Rica- “The main focus of ministry for Racers will be partnering with local churches to share the Gospel with rural communities, especially in impoverished border towns. Some Racers even get the opportunity to grab surfboards, head to the sandy beaches, and minister to the surfer community while leading camps for kids on the beach.”
Ecuador- Racers in Ecuador have the opportunity to serve in a lot of ways including, ministering to children living on the streets, serving in hospitals for people with special needs, spending time in elderly homes, working with feeding programs, and teaching English. Overall my time in Ecuador will be focused around building relationships and sharing my hope and joy in Christ with everyone I meet along the way.
In addition to this, I will be growing closer to God and living life the way he intends.
