Sawadeeka!!
Sometimes life on the field, as they say, is extremely hard. I’ve been sleeping on the floor for the past 2 months. But it is also full of moments that give beautiful glimpses of what is coming- tastes of eternity that fill my heart with longing and desire for more of him.
We have church every Sunday morning with all of the girls, where we worship for a while in Thai, and then we lead one song in English. They all LOVE to sing and dance! It is actually the best thing ever. And there are several songs that were originally written in English that they know in Thai, so we have been able to sing them together. For example, good ole Chris Tomlin’s “Our God”. It goes something like:
“Our God is greater.
Our God is stronger.
God, you are higher than any other.”
Hearing those words proclaimed from the mountain top (literally) in 2 different languages simultaneously caused something in my spirit to well up in me where I actually began to weep. This is it!! That is God’s kingdom coming on this very earth. Our God. He is the God of unity. Communion. He is everlasting. God Almighty. El Shaddai. Yahweh Elohim. I am. The eternal that is present now.
In choosing to come here, God used a passage in Revelation 7 to stir my heart for more of him. I have written about it once before, but it says –
“Behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying ‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
I have only experienced 2 nations together-and 2 is SO tiny compared to the hundreds. And it was so beautiful. Imagine what it will be like in eternity, where every single nation is represented in his throne room, bowing on our knees before our gracious and holy Father, singing sweet praises to him in hundreds of different languages all at once. Fully saturated by him. Our purpose full filled in that very moment- to worship him forever. And because he loves us so much, he sent his son so we could freely experience that even now. We can actually go into God’s throne room with no fear, blameless before our father, and sing praises to him, as he sings over us- overflowing out of his deep love for his sons and daughters. That is something to shout about! To leap! And praise! And be so thankful! Like what. It doesn’t make sense.
I got to go walk and swim among elephants the other day and it was so wild. They are so huge. And also funny looking. But God created them! And it is crazy. They are so intricately beautiful. All of creation mirrors him. His strength and power but also his gentleness. I challenge you all to look for the pieces of his heart all around you- how it mirrors him. How his Kingdom is coming here on earth right now. As it is in Heaven. He doesn’t hide the pieces of his heart. But we sometimes miss them because our eyes are focused on other things. So I say, no more distractions! Experience the tastes of the eternal now! Let that hunger and desire for more of him spur you into deeper waters! He is so kind! And just loves us so much!
Okay well I hope you all have the best day!!! Cheers to sleeping on the floor!!!
Love, Emily
