a sunflower- if picked from the stem it still looks beautiful, radiant and soft but after a couple hours it begins to shrivel up and become dry.

so do we when we are removed from The Lord. just as a flower cannot continue to grow without being attached to the stem, neither can we unless attached to the Lord.

my favorite thing about sunflowers are that they always look up to their source of life. yes nutrients and water are very important but without light the plants die. sunflowers reach towards the sun always lifting their petals. we too should reach towards what gives us life and light. When lifting your hands up during worship we upright ourselves, just like sunflowers, lifting up our “petals” to the source of our life. each one of us is unique, not one person has the same fingerprint. when reaching our fingerprints towards our source of life, our lungs become opened up allowing the maximum amount of oxygen in. in that physical stance of praise, we are saying “look Abba, look breath giver, i am here. it’s me. look at my fingerprints. it’s me, i am here to praise you, to be lifted in thanksgiving for your light.”

exodus 3- I AM

I AM BREATH. I AM LIGHT. I AM YOUR SOURCE OF LIFE.

we can learn a lot from sunflowers.

they never turn away from the light, they track it from east to west. they keep their heads lifted. we too should never turn away from our light but track Him everywhere He goes, our heads never turn anywhere but towards our source of life.

JOHN 8:12

Jesus spoke…. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
