Hey Everyone! I’m so excited to be writing the first entry of my journey as a World Racer!! First, for those who don’t know, a little about myself. My name is Emily Elizabeth Marie McAlister, yes its long and yes i love it! I was raised by two of the most loving, selfless individuals I know. I was taught to love the world through their example not only their words. My Dad has a passion for those who have been cast aside. The people others give up on. He taught me there is no grading scale or secret to Gods love. God loves with no strings and therefore, we as followers of Jesus also give love with no strings. My Mom is the strongest women I know. She will go anywhere and do anything God asks of her. From construction in New Orleans to Dental Clinics in Central America my Mom has no limits to what she will do. She taught me to work without complaining and to always serve with a smile on my face, because the privilege of serving others is a blessing from God. My younger sister, Katie, also teaches me to be joyful, even on days when its easier to be angry and pessimistic.
I was raised in a Christian home and have known the love of God all my life. However, I didn’t personally engage with God until I was 18 when God set my heart ablaze for him in spite of my careless wandering. Suddenly, my walk was my own, not just family tradition. Two years later, He sent me to school and through Gods intervention I found myself in Waco, Texas at the World Mandate Missions conference held by Antioch Church. In September 2011, God asked me what I wanted to do. WOW! He asked me! He said, “I’ve given you several passions so what would you like me to bless”? I was amazed. A little scared, I asked him to send me into the World. He did =) I’ve worked on teeth in Dominican Republic and played with Orphans in Guatemala. I have loved every minute, and Gods blessing continues to bring tears to my eyes. Ask and you shall receive =)
