This month in El Salvador I am living in my tent and LOVING IT.
After living an entire year in crazy close quarters with my World Race community it has been really nice to escape late in the evening to my tent. My wonderful tent. Alone. ALLL BYYY MYYYSSEELLLFFF. (Name that song.)

(Inside my tent in the early morning hours.)
When I was younger I loved reading the teenVOGUE magazine. My favorite part of the mag was when the editor would dump famous peoples purses out on a white background and share what they like to carry around all the time. Well, I am not famous and I’m not sharing whats in me purse but I thought it would be fun to share with you what I like to keep with me inside of my tent. My favorite things.
So, Here is my tent. Mi Casa.

- I bought my 2 person tent for REI. Buy yours here —> https://www.rei.com/product/878520/rei-co-op-half-dome-2-plus-tent

This is my view when I wake up in the morning.
- Lucky for me my friend Baileigh let me borrow her sleeping bag for this month. I sent mine home months ago because I have been sweating my butt off everywhere I have been. El Salvador has been chilly at night though which I have loved. She has a Kelty Sleeping Bag. Buy yours here! It’s on sale! —> https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/129242/kelty-tuck-20-sleeping-bag-regular
- I not only use Baileigh’s sleeping bag but also my cocoon sleeping bag liner. Thankfully I had mine given to me by a sweet friend. Get one here—>https://www.rei.com/product/627255/cocoon-cotton-bag-linertravel-sheet
- I also like to snuggle up with my Ethiopian air lines blanket. You can’t get that anywhere other than on one of their planes. It’s pretty exclusive.
- My most prized possession when sleeping on the floor is my Big Agnes Sleeping pad. I bought the wide because— well— I’m wide. I call it my double wide trailer. I suggest if you are sleeping on the floor regularly to go test them out and pay a pretty penny for one. Here is mine —> https://www.rei.com/product/105156/big-agnes-air-core-ultra-sleeping-pad

- I love my blow up pillow. It sounds so uncomfortable but I really do love it so much. It was almost as expensive as my whole sleeping pad. Stupid but so comfy. Spend too much money here —> https://www.rei.com/product/897798/sea-to-summit-aeros-ultralight-deluxe-pillow
- I got my cheetah print pillow case when I was twelve at PB Teen. Unfortunately 10 years later they no longer sell it. Sorry!
- I love having my flannel or flanny as I like to call it next to me at night in case it is still cold in the morning. Here is one similar —> https://www.rei.com/product/871158/marmot-bridget-flannel-shirt-womens
- I also keep my Young Living essential oils next to me. I put tea tree in my hair every morning to keep out lice (hopefully) and lavender on my temples at night. I just like essential oils. Make fun of me if you must or buy some here > https://www.youngliving.com/en_US
- The cute case I keep them in is from Vera Bradley. Here is one very similar –> https://www.verabradley.com/us/product/Double-Zip-Cosmetic/Lilac-Medallion/15655-15655I51?Ntt=VB-PDP-ACCESSORIES-MAKEUP-BAGS-PDP-VB
- In my tent pocket I keep my eye mask and ear plugs. I can’t sleep with out them. You can buy these on Amazon. If you are going on the WR I suggest you get a million ear plugs (I bought a case of 50 pairs) and an eye mask. Mine is starting to fall apart so I would bring two.

- In my other side pocket I keep my hair brush that I bought at a Walmart in Costa Rica (because my nappy hair broke my other one), my face lotion, and my lice repellent detangler. Lice is a big issue for me this month. So far I haven’t gotten it. Please pray for me not to. My face lotion I got at Trader Joes. It’s my favorite I have tried and it’s pretty cheap! My detangler I got at a Target while on a layover in NYC.
- My day pack has stayed basically packed. It holds all my knick-knacks that I have picked up recently, my snacks, my medication, and I think that might be it. I love this bag. It’s big but it helps me so much in my packing. Anything that doesn’t fit in my big pack goes in my day pack. I bought mine here –> https://www.rei.com/product/880840/rei-co-op-trail-40-pack-womens
- I also have other random things like head phones, a charging cord, and the coffee bean bracelet I bought yesterday.

- On the other side of my head I keep my journal, Bible, and a variety of pens. These are always near by. If I ever lost these I would be lost. I bought the journal in Nicaragua and the bible is from Mardel. Here is a bible similar to mine —> http://www.mardel.com/Bibles/Bible-Translations/ESVEnglish-Standard-Version/ESV-Value-Compact-Bible/p/P3514379
- I always have my adventure day backpack nearby too. It holds my swim suit, sunscreen, and whatever else I might need for adventuring. My tiny bag actually came inside of my big pack. Here is a link to my big pack —>https://www.rei.com/product/881000/gregory-baltoro-75-pack

- Above my head I keep the bags that stow away everything when I am done for a quick packing process. I also keep my head lamp up there. This helps me find my things at night, journal, read, or take medication. Here is one like mine -> https://www.rei.com/product/109857/petzl-tactikka-core-headlamp
- I also keep the sack thingy that helps me blow up my sleeping bag with out passing out. It is a luxurious necessity. Buy one here —> (Just kidding. I can’t get the link to work.)

So there you have it. My home and all the stuff I like to keep in it.

Also, here is a cute picture of our dog Gracie knocking at my tent door. AWWWWW.
This is what the outside of my tent looks like on a normal day. Covered in my stinky work out clothes that I wear for at least a week straight.
Thanks for coming over and checking out my tent!
XOXO,
Madden
