Hello- “Sawatdeekah”

Thai money is called Baht.

$1 USD= 34.4 Baht

Bangkok is known for its sex tourism.

Prostitution is actually illegal here but not regulated. The law system is very corrupt. Everyone just wants money- The police and government included.

The Thai people are very active. The parks have open air gyms in them. Some you have to pay for but they are less than $1 USD and others are free. It’s comparable to a jungle gym for kids.

Most Thai people struggle with vanity and insecurities. They spend a lot of time looking in mirrors and trying to perfect their looks.

Most of the beauty products, especially soaps or lotions, have bleach in them to make the skin lighter/whiter. They want to be pale.

Popular street foods include green papaya salad, pad Thai, roti, and mango sticky rice.

Street food vendors cut food with scissors.

The coffee here is amazing. Some of the best I have ever had.

The best place to buy fruit is off the street carts. They will even cut it up for you to eat on the spot.

A popular mod of transport for tourists are Tuk Tuks. It looks like a motorcycle and a golf cart had a baby.

There are a lot of pick up trucks here. Sometimes they even turn them into “Tuk Tuk trucks”. Basically they just make benches in the bed of the truck and charge people to take them places. Just like a taxi would but cheaper and more adventurous.

Even in the middle of the rainforest you can smell the smog.

Pattaya had one of the dirtiest beaches I have ever seen. I was putting my feet in the water and a pair of underwear washed up next to me. EW

The ethnic foods aisle in the grocery store has Italian and Mexican foods.

Thailand’s King died late last year. After the king dies they mourn him for a full year after. There are pictures of the king everywhere. People even worship the diseased king.

The main religion in Thailand is Buddhism at 95%.

Even though Thailand has been an open country for over 200 years, the percentage of Christians is still only a whopping 1%.

Before watching a movie in the theater they play the kings anthem. You are required to stand. It lasts for a few minutes.

The women in the red light districts can be bought for 3000 baht a night. The price depends on what they do and how long they stay. A client will write down a list of what they want and the women will come up with a price.

The women put baby powder on their faces to reduce shine and sweat… BRILLIANT.

Ping Pong shows are a popular attraction in the red light districts. It’s disgusting. DO NOT GOOGLE IT. Just trust me its horrible.

Showing the bottom of your foot is considered an insult.

Popular sport are tennis and actual ping pong.

Wearing shoes inside is a no no.

If a women touches a monk he has to go through a month long cleansing process.

These are just a few things I found interesting while visiting Thailand.

I was in Thailand about 3 months ago— still trying to play catch up. Thanks for reading and following along.

XOXO,
