Fun facts: Costa Rica
Hello – Hola
Bye – Ciao
Currency- Colones
1 USD = 575 Colones
They have no army. Only police.
They say “Pura Vida” all the time. They say it for hello, goodbye, how are you, and pretty much any other chance they can get. I’m a huge fan of it!
Everyone texts using voice messages. Like actual sound clips of themselves speaking. They send them back and forth like we do with text messages.
They have Taco Bell, McDonald’s, and Walmart. We were frequent visitors of each.
They are allowed to make jewelry out of current money. In America thats illegal right?
There is a tourist attraction called crocodile bridge where many crocodiles just are seen living in the wild. Chillin’ like villains.

(crocodile bridge)
Supposedly crocodiles are found on the beaches sometimes. Thankfully I never witnessed this.
Fútbol is huge in Costa Rica! If the team wins a game the next day is declared a national holiday and no one goes to work.

( We went nuts for the CR vs Mexico game. We bought jerseys and everything. Unfortunately the game turned out to be a tie to everyone had to go to work the next day.)
We were in Costa Rica for their Independence Day and no one wore blue, white, and red! They love their country on the inside but don’t express it as much as we do on the 4th of July. Unless you are in the parade. Then you wear all kinds of cool get ups.

(We are Costa Rica obsessed.)
Costa Rica is similar to America in many ways. I felt like I was just in an America that spoke English.
Costa Rica, I miss you and love you.
Pura Vida,
Madden
( I went by Madden in Costa Rica because there are two Emilys on our team. It’s really growing on me though.
