Inspiration for a blog has been hard to come by for me in the last couple of weeks.
So, I’m just gonna catch y’all up a bit and share an observation of mine.
August 31 – Teams Radiant Rubies and Estuary caught a bus at 8 AM to Montenegro where we waited for our overnight train ride into Belgrade, Serbia, where we would be meeting up with the rest of X Squad for Debrief!

September 1 – We arrived around 5:30 AM and got settled into our hostels for the weekend!
September 1-4 – X Squad Debrief! Debrief was a time for some much needed rest and reflection from the first month of ministry!
September 4 – Squad outing to the zoo!!

September 5 – X Squad headed to Alba Iulia, Romania for ALL SQUAD MONTH! The more the merrier, right?!
The past few days we have had orientation, lessons, and gone out into Alba to get to know the community better! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the month holds!
Now for the observation…(this was more from Albania, not really much in Serbia, and pretty normal here in Romania from what I’ve noticed so far!)
They told us we would stand out.
I didn’t think “standing out” included stares… I was thinking more like double takes… you know like, “Did I just see a group of Americans walking in this small European town?! What are they doing here?”
Just walking down the street we would have people watching us, or saying “hello” then laughing, or my personal favorite, children wanting to play with us!
I was constantly reminded of the penguins from Madagascar…

What a blessing in disguise though!
God tells us in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”
We’ve had so many opportunities to share the Gospel, because we stand out. I thought I knew how blessed I was to be born in America, but I have been absolutely blown away with how many people’s dream is to live in the States. But our freedom in Christ is so much greater than the freedom we have in America, and I can’t wait to be able to share that freedom with the world.
I hope you are all doing well, and I love you all so much!!!! 🙂
