Hello beautiful people.

My name is Emily Lincoln, and I am so glad you are here! 😀

Speaking of you being here, I’m gonna make the assumption you either know me, or you are like me for the past few months and stalking all things World Race in anticipation of applying/interviewing/being accepted/preparing for the Race.

Either way, I would love to tell you all a little about how I got to this point. And, yes, I literally mean this point. For those who know me…LOOK! I HAVE MY OWN BLOG! Who knew this day would ever come? (God…that’s who…) For those who don’t know me…I’m a math person…words aren’t really my thing…thankfully, this blog will mostly be about what God’s doing in my life and those around me while on this amazing adventure God has led me to, so it should be pretty simple.

Alright…here we go…

I grew up in Greenville, AL, and no, that is not the town from the movie Forrest Gump, but I appreciate the inquiry! For the last three and a half years, I’ve been attending Troy University in Troy, AL. (My mother and sister also attended Troy University, so you could say it’s somewhat of a tradition.) I absolutely love my small school and will be graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Economics. I changed my major a couple times along the way, but hey, that’s just part of the college experience, right?!

Senior year came way faster than I thought it would; last semester, the reality of graduating hit me, as well as this thing after college some like to call “the real world.” Scary, I know. So like most college students do when they have a question and no immediate answer, I turned to Google.

*pulls up Google*

*types “jobs that use math, travel, and help people”*

*presses Enter*

I looked at various results, and not one satisfied my three passions.

(Google may have come up short, but God sure did not. Stay tuned.)

Then I did what I should have been doing all along: I fell on my face in my bedroom and asked God to lead me wherever He wanted me to go.

So there I was, the very next day, on Facebook just casually scrolling on the newsfeed. Then God did this amazing thing where He used the annoying capability of the internet to take whatever you googled recently and put sponsored ads on your Facebook. But this time, I wasn’t annoyed at all. There it was: the World Race.

I, for one, never click on the sponsored ads, because I’m paranoid and not a fan of viruses, scams, etc. However, this ad intrigued me, so I clicked on it. After some research I began telling various people about the mission trip I stumbled upon, and every single person I told that first day knew about someone who went on the World Race. I proceeded to thank God for presenting this amazing opportunity to me and continued praying.

So here I am.

Alright, now that we know how I got to this point, I would like to take some time to let you know who I am!

I, along with my older sister, Elizabeth, was raised by this really cool lady I have the honor and privilege of calling Mom. You can refer to as Leanne, if you would like. They are my biggest supporters, and I love them so much.

I’m currently 21, but will be turning 22 in April!

My birthday is Earth Day, which I, for some odd reason, find quite fascinating.

Math is the coolest thing ever, and the world needs to love it as much as I do.

(I mean come on, just look at the Fibonacci sequence, and tell me math isn’t amazing. And, yes, I have a PowerPoint and speech on why math is awesome from my speech class, so feel free to inquire more on that.)

I’ve worked for Chick-fil-A for about a year and a half now, and I have loved every minute [and every bite] of it.

The Myers/Briggs likes to label me “introverted,” and I guess that’s true for the most part, but I absolutely love meeting new people (please do us both a favor and introduce yourself first, because I will awkwardly glance/stare at you until you do)!

Karaoke, Just Dance-ing, eating ice cream, and watching movies are probably my favorite pastimes.

I laugh…a lot…and usually for too long. Corny jokes are the best. If you have any good ones, feel free to send them my way!

A recent discovery of mine is I tend to talk a lot. I hate awkward silence, so I end up filling it in with awkward conversation about what I ate for lunch the day before, or maybe a crossword puzzle I can’t seem to finish, or possibly funny YouTube videos I’ve watched one too many times. The topics of conversations I can have are endless really.

Assuming you all made it through this without falling asleep, I would like to close by saying how grateful I am for each of you for your individual interest in my journey as well as your prayers. I know God is going to change me this year, and that excites me to no end. I want to be put outside of my comfort zone and see our God, who surprises me daily with His love and grace and forgiveness, work through me and my squad in these 11 incredible countries.

God bless you all!!
