fifty things about me hmm??
1. i've got green eyes, and green is my favorite color…and i love green trees and foliage. i live in the evergreen state. i'm still in the bad habit of not recycling.
2. i'm left-handed. if you're a lefty i automatically will give you 10 friend points. this might totally be in my head, but us handed-rebels need to stick together. plus we die sooner.
3. i am down for practically anything. you think it up, and i'm on board. bungee jumping, sky diving, random adventures in foreign countries…let's go.
4. i eat popcorn almost every day.
5. i've lived in a college town for the past five years, including summers. i have a strange love and comfort that comes from pullman washington that is odd to most people. i'm more excited to be out of my comfort zone next year though.
6. i'm incredibly add. i have many things that i love but persistance is a weakness of mine. i like to be constantly doing new things.
7. that being said, i'm also incredibly stubborn and like being in control (although, if I see your idea is better, I'll be the first to switch).
8. i need to be in nature to stay sane. when i was an unbeliever, i would write about how i knew God existed through nature and through music.
9. i just rededicated my life to Christ last Easter…so i'm about to have my one-year "birth" day :).
10. i went to a lutheran school up until 8th grade though…which was a blessing and a curse. i know all the "right" answers, and it causes me to bs what i truly believe instead of just accepting my immaturities and being genuine with my faith.
11. i also easily fall into the trap of legalism and religiousity, which God is continually teaching me about. it caused me to lose and push away some of my best friends, and fall into massive disparity about myself. luckily these relationships are being rebuilt, and God continually shows me how much He loves me, but it was a tough and quick lesson to learn! so it also causes me to be extremely weary of rules that aren't in the bible…so if i test things, it's not about any disrespect to you it's completely a heart issue between me and the Lord.
12. on another note, i'm completely an open book. sometimes people tell me i'm too honest, but i have no shame about my past or present because i am FREE.
13. i looooooooooooveeeee people and talking to others about their lives. i'd rather listen than talk, because i find other people's stories way more interesting than talking about myself.
14. i have a huge heart for india, south africa, china, and the philippines. these countries have been on my heart even when i wasn't following Christ.
15. amazing grace, it is well with my soul, and the stand are my favorite christian songs.
16. i love to sing as well, but not by myself. i'm happy to sing with you though, and a good harmony has been known to bring me to tears. and a good voice gives me goosebumps.
17. ooh. i can be really sarcastic sometimes. this is a sign of affection for me, and i will usually say it with a smile. i'm bad at keeping a straight face.
18. i also blush REALLY easily. it's so annoying and it's super easy to tell when i'm uncomfortable.
19. speaking of uncomfortable, i can be really socially awkward. i say awkward/inappropriate things, cross the line, think of things later that i wish i would've said, etc. call me out on it and you will hold a special place in my heart.
20. i don't cry. unless i'm overtired, pmsing, and frustrated. all at once. that's the only formula where i've ever cried in recent years.
21. i have an extremely high pain tolerance.
22. i'm a blonde sorority girl. don't put me in that box. although i can do a great sorority voice.
23. oh, and try to not make dumb blonde jokes around me. that's a huge pet peeve.
24. i'd rather have everyone else in the room happy and me not than vice versa.
25. i'm really bad at on the spot jokes. if someone asks me to tell a joke i get a frog in my throat. and probably will start sweating.
26. i sweat a lot as well.
27. speaking of wetness, i love to swim and all things water. i have a tattoo with waves on it.
28. i want another tattoo, but i need to save up for it. it's going to be a dove and have the poem "exultation is the going…" by emily dickinson on it. it's my favorite poem and about how exultation means both the joy that comes from getting out and exploring new places, but also the joy of doing the same thing every day that you love (the sailor experiencing the "divine intoxication of first league out from land")
29. i love books, but don't have time to read as much as i like.
30. i'm a political and history junkie. the washington post news alerts bring me genuine joy.
31. i don't know how people thought up 100 things about themselves.
32. i love evangelism but sometimes it blows up in my face. this is disheartening when it happens, but it hasn't stopped me from trying (actually sometimes it does. i hope this changes on the race)
33. i'm an ENFP and an aquarius. 100%. (i don't follow horoscopes though, it just weirdly fits that i'm aquarius). if you want an easy way to get to know me just go here and read away. i agree with it all.
34. my love language is quality time. my second-highest love language is words of affirmation.
35. my love language is NOT gifts. i get uncomfortable when people give me gifts.
36. i love stuff like love language tests and personality tests. human psychology is so interesting to me.
37. i am procrastinating doing what i should be while writing this.
38. the one country i'm sad we're not going to is thailand. i love doing bar ministry. i think my heart breaks the most for women in the sex industry, and women who use their bodies to get attention from men.
39. why? because i was that woman (i wasn't in the sex industry though…). i'm overjoyed that Jesus got rid of that trait in me.
40. i love chocolate. i'm eating chocolate chips as i type this.
41. sometimes i sing instead of talk. sometimes i dance instead of standing normally.
42. i sleep better without a pillow and on a hard surface than on a nice mattress. this will come in handy when we are sleeping on the ground.
43. i take really long, hot showers. this will not come in handy at any time on the race.
44. i LOVE people who break stereotypes and have weird quirks to them.
45. i love my alone time. this will be interesting on the race because the one thing i've heard is that you don't have any of that. it kind of makes me nervous. but i'm totally an isolater when somethings wrong, so this might be a good thing.
46. i have brothers, and tend to get along better with guys.
47. i hate confrontation and drama.
48. i love experiences and people that open my mind. i never want to live a stagnant comfortable life.
49. I LOVE MY WORLD RACERS. You guys are so cool and I'm so excited to meet you all in person.
50. I'm so happy that God is who He is. He blows my mind constantly with His goodness, intellect, love, and all-around awesomeness. I'm so honored that He chose me to be His kid and serve Him on this trip to the most beautiful places in the world.
