Coming at you with yet another blog post. So, fun fact I don’t speak Spanish very well, or at all. I can say Hi and you know some pretty basic stuff but that’s it. So, coming into this trip I knew I was going to struggle with that, and just not being able to understand everything. Which is definitely true, it can be very hard. Whenever someone tries to talk to me, and I have to go find someone who can understand them and vice-versa. But there’s also so much beauty in that. Every Sunday we go to a church that obviously does not speak English, but we just get to listen to them preach and just see the passion they speak with and you can just see the fire they have for the Lord! We had a campfire last week with all the kids and we just sat around the fire and sang songs. Granted half of us were singing the song in English and the other half were singing in Spanish but we were all praising the same God and let me tell you it is the most beautiful thing. We don’t serve a God that only listens to people who speak one specific language. He listens to everyone. And yeah, I don’t always get to understand everything but smiles and charades are a universal language and it makes everything more fun (&interesting) Also each day I’ve been trying to challenge myself to learn a new word or saying everyday which has also been a lot of fun trying to remember everything. So, yeah it can be hard not being able to understand everything, but God has been showing me so much beauty in that! This is kingdom.
Love,
Emily<3
