Okay, so I’ve been accepted into the World Race Gap year, now what? Well, in order to go I have to raise $16,600. WOW!!! That is a lot of money! I was talking online with some of my fellow world race gap year teammates and one of them said: “It is a good thing we serve a rich God and 16,600 dollars is nothing to him.” Isn’t that amazing?!?! That $16,600 is a TON of money to me and it seems impossible that I am going to raise that much money. But to God it is nothing, it’s a small minor detail to him. I can imagine him saying “Emily calm down, I am in control. That may seem like a lot of money to you but I could make that in an instant. I created everything around you, everything you can see and everything you can’t. I am going to take care of you, I am for you, not against you.” AAWWHHH that is so comforting.
I am here to answer some of your questions about fundraising and where your donations will go. So, let’s get started.
The $16,600 will go to my food, housing, flights and bus rides for all 9 months.
I have also been asked, “Can’t you just donate money to yourself?” “Don’t you have money from working this summer that you can donate to the $16,600?”
Technically, yes I could. However, the money I am fundraising for is only for my food, housing, and transportation. I have to buy all my gear that I am going to need for those 9 months, my flights to training camp next summer, my flights to launch next fall, and lastly my flight to come home May of 2020. This might be a little confusing so I am going to try my best to explain it step by step. The World Race base is in Georgia. For training camp, I will be flying there in July 2019. Then in September, I have to fly back to Georgia because that is where we will launch from. Once the 9 months is over I will fly back to Georgia with my team. Then I will have to pay for my flight back to Minnesota. On top of all of that, I have to have extra money for each month I’m gone in case I need a haircut or buy a new t-shirt. I hope that answers your question.
So here’s how you can help me financially!
1. You can donate right now!! If you go to the home page of my blog and click on the big orange button that says “Donate” it will guide you through step by step on how to donate to my trip! There are one-time, monthly and quarterly options!
2. If you would like to donate by sending a check you can write it out to Adventures in Missions with my name in the memo line. The mailing address is Adventure in Missions, PO Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570.
3. Participate in fundraising! As I am writing this I am currently selling t-shirts! They are only around for 2 MORE DAYS!! However, I will be having many fundraisers over the course of these next few months, so if you don’t want a shirt you have many other options to donate!
Adventures in Missions is a tax-exempt organization under IRS code 501(c)(3) and is a member of the ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability). Due to IRS and ECFA regulations governing the administration of tax-deductible donations given in support of a particular trip/program, support contributions given on behalf of an individual will be used to offset the costs of the trip/program you are involved in. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! If you have any more questions please feel free to ask! I would love to answer them:)
