Bulawayo, Zimbabwe is home to a sweet ministry called Scripture Union. My team and I have the opportunity to work with them this month and it is truly an incredible cause. The organization is one that partners with schools around the city and holds weekly clubs. They seek to help kids achieve their dreams as well as directs them in a way that encourages them to learn and make both smart and safe decisions while spreading the Love of Jesus throughout each lesson.

This morning we went to a nearby school to talk about self worth and how we are all beautifully and wonderfully made. We talked about how every person is special and that God sees us as valuable beyond compare. After many games and activities we had a time of declaring this sweet truth. It’s something I will never forget.

In a dirt field outside of a classroom, with my eyes tearing up, dozens of middle school students stood up, one by one, and said these powerful words

“my name is … and I am special”

This went on and on. We stood there and witnessed students that were shy just an hour before, stand up and proclaim their infinite value. Confidence grew and hearts filled with great love as students united with their classmates and expressed how special they are. The conviction in their voice was unreal. Their words held serious truth and they knew it. A class of middle school students reminded me of each persons immense value to God and it was powerful.

God is working in unique and exciting ways in this city. Schools like the one I visited are equipping kids with valuable life lessons everyday and lives are deeply impacted. To see the power of education and God’s love go hand in hand is a mighty thing. This month is special in SO many ways and I can’t wait to share more within the next few weeks. Thanks so much for keeping up with me and providing constant encouragement and love. I’m halfway through month three and my mind is being blown more and more each day when I sit and think about all that God is doing.

xoxo,
Emily
