Very early on in my relationship with God I had a vision one day while praying. I was at the gates of heaven and standing in the presence of God and He was showing me my entire life on Earth. It was like a flash of memories and events of the life I had lived. And after He showed me, He looked at me and said, “I never knew you.”
Ohh crap. What’s crazy is that a few years ago I was reading the Bible and a section of verses says: “Not everyone who says to me, ’Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven….And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.” (Matthew 7:21-23)
Double ohh crap! What God had said to me in the vision was word for word what He spoke in the Bible in the Sermon on the Mount.
Today we celebrate because this is the day God sent us a Way to enter into Heaven and into relationship with God. In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus showed that when we get to the gates of Heaven, God isn’t gonna ask if we went to all the services or put in extra time of volunteering or felt guilty each time we sinned or read enough of our Bible or donated enough of our money. The question will be did He ever know you? This is a point so many people miss. CHRISTIANITY IS NOT ABOUT RELIGION, CHRISTIANITY IT’S ABOUT RELATIONSHIP. Do you know God? Today you can sing Hallelujah! Because there is a way you can know Him. He sent Jesus Christ, to bridge the gap that sin created so that we can have a relationship with our Father and ultimately someday live eternally with Him in Heaven. Celebrate today because He loves you THAT much!
