“But no human being can tame the tongue, it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. This need not be so, my brothers. Does a spring gush forth from the same opening pure and brackish water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, produce olives, or a grapevine figs? Neither can salt water yield fresh.” James 3:8-12
Don’t try to yield both salt and fresh water. We were made to love others and see Christ in everyone. We can’t be a true community of Christians if we are constantly speaking evil then turning around and praising the Lord. It’s time we start to be authentic, if we say we love the Lord we need to start to show it in ALL THINGS even the way we speak to and about others.
Personally I’m learning a lot of what it looks like to walk in this attitude at all times. Making it a lifestyle rather than a “depends where I’m at and who I’m taking to” kinda attitude. I challenge everyone reading this to start to put this verse to work in your life.
