Celebrate good times. COME ON!!!!
The Dominican Republic has been full of so many good times, and I believe they are so worth sharing and celebrating. sooooo heres a few moments that stick out to me:))
*Hanging out at the children’s center on my teams day of community outreach is for sure a top 10 moment so far. Although we were stuck in a small building with no AC with lots of children with a large language barrier, there was definitely something special happening there! The kids were so inviting and loving, they wrote their names all up and down our arms and begged for us to sign their arms in return, begged us to carry them around on our backs and spin them in circles and run with them up and down the hallway. The kids love Frozen, Jesus, and disrupting class. They were too adorable and I can talk for dayzzz about how cool those cute little Spanish speaking kids were, but I would run out of characters, so ask me when I get home!!
*Spending some quality time in the kitchen with Elva, this hilarious lady who cooks all our food and is constantly making us laugh (mostly by making fun of our Spanish speaking skills). She’s great and makes great food, good laughs, and even Better memories. I have some pictures with her that ill upload once I figure out how to do that :,)
*walking the community the day after Hurricane Maria to pass out “Torta” (aka a cornbread of sorts) to the people in the community with bible versus attached to it. The people here were so so so appreciative and welcoming and it truly moved my heart to see how thankful they were for some food and prayers! (Jesus+food is obviously the way to peoples hearts, take notes;) ).
*having a great worship session under a tin roof in the midst of hurricane Maria. hearing the words “the waves and wind still know his name, it is well with my soul” in the midst of a hurricane is so powerful and reassuring that all is well when you run into the arms of Christ.
* today when I was taking a shower mid shampoo the water stopped. (this wasn’t actually a good time, but I know it’ll be a good time for all you people reading this at home… :,)…. I still have shampoo in my hair hours later).
thats just a few of many good memories worth celebrating so far!!!
-I’ll try to post pictures soon I just idk how.
-also, Hi mom, Hi dad.
