This month my team and two others were placed in the mountains of Lesotho for ministry. While the idea of staying in a small mountain village sounded absolutely amazing, the 7 hour drive through the tiny twisty mountain roads of Lesotho wasn’t exactly a dream come true. Nevertheless, by 7am we were bounding down small, bumpy, gravel city roads. Soon the buildings began to clear and were replaced by mountains opening up in front of us. I sat in my cramped seat, surrounded by backpacks, with my face pressed up against the rickety cool window, in complete awe of the overpowering mountains soon on each side of me. It made me feel so small in the best way. I was no longer upset about the next six hours of my life – they couldn’t pass slow enough. The air became icier as we climbed the roads. It stung our faces and purpled our fingers as we hung half our bodies out of the van windows. All we wanted was to somehow someway feel a little more apart of the beauty that surrounded and towered over us.
I’m starting to realize that the most beautiful parts of life aren’t found in my daydreams of ideals, but often found just around my next corner. I simply have to open my eyes from my dreams long enough to see them.
We have now been in Mokhotlong for nearly 2 weeks and I’m sure I am living my best life.
God has begun to take away my fears of speaking and exchange them with the weight, yet love, for sharing His word. Ministry has looked like everything from building (yes, we are all very qualified), hanging out with the school kids, going to share the gospel in the local prison, and sometimes it can even look like chasing massive run away truck tires a quarter mile down a hill through two fences and across a creek. (cough cough @Blake) The pastors and ministry hosts here have far passed my expectations and become my true friends. I am confident that they will not become just a faded memory, but friends for years after I leave them.
I am so beyond excited to be a part of the work God is doing here! Please be praying that we would stay intentional and all in during these last 2 weeks we have here in Lesotho!
Love and miss you guys a lotso <3
