This month, L Squad partnered with Ciudad Refugio, a local foundation in Medellin, Colombia. City of Refuge has devoted most of their work to assisting at-risk communities, & have several different programs for people in need that we were able to be a part of over the last three weeks. Their programs include a shelter for homeless men, a rehabilitation center to overcome addictions, weekly outreach to some of the neighborhoods in Medellin that are more heavily influenced by drugs & poverty, & youth development & feeding. They also have a discipleship program for both men & women, which several of our racers were able to join for a few days. Every day was something different, whether it was peeling & cutting carrots, sorting out donated food, teaching english, mopping floors, attending & participating in different church services, or music & drama in the park!

Each week, a group would head up to a neighborhood North of Medellin called Manantiales. We would walk around to invite kids to attend an all day event held by Ciudad Refugio every week, & then spend the afternoon teaching, playing games, & spending time with locals!

My co-leader Alyssa & some of her new friends made during park outreach! We would play songs & hand out drinks, inviting people to check out the rehabilitation program at Ciudad Refugio.

Tomorrow, Thursday, we are leaving for Rwanda! Please join me in prayer for safe travel, & adjustment for the squad as we enter a new country.

I have just under seven weeks left with this squad of beautiful people! It has been such a blast being able to pour into them on their journey & I am so thankful to have had this opportunity! Be in touch soon, next time, from Africa!

Love,

Em
