Dear future WWOOFer,

Il Sentier Del Riccio is a really great farm and Gianpaolo is a great guy, I recommend the whole thing.  However, when you decide to work here, you are no longer on your time, but on Gianpaolo's.  Never expect to be on time, but be okay with waiting an hour or four when planning on going somewhere.  Understand that his English is nowhere near perfect and he really tries to use English to make jokes.  He will mishear everything as 'Canadian', i.e 'comedian', 'coming', 'American'.  If he says something really strange, just wait, he will probably confess he is kidding.
Upon arrival, the Chef Express is the only place at the train station in Salerno to hang out.  If you walk towards the sea and turn right, then keep walking for another block or two, you will find Jambo Cafe.  Jambo Cafe has free internet, reasonable prices and the WIFI password is 0987654321.  Also, don't worry if you have to wait a couple hours before Gianpaolo arrives to pick you up and then takes you to sit through a meeting before taking you home.
The house is really great, with incredible views and the town is fantastic.  A pocket dictionary is extremely helpful and bring lots of bug spray or lemongrass candles.  You can buy food from the market across from the farm, as much as you want, and just put it on Gianpaolo's tab.  As well as fresh fruits, vegetables, wine, chocolates, croissants, etc. from a lady right by your house and just put it on his tab.
If you like running, this is a tough place, since it is on the side of a mountain.  I've been heading towards Pedima and if you do an 8 mile loop, there is a public water fountain right at the half way point.
At the farm, Josaphina will get very mad at you, all the time, but don't take offense.  They don't speak any English there, so your pocket dictionary will become very helpful.  Also, Erba is Herbs, Erbaccia are weeds.  MOLTO is different than MORTO and if she gives you the 'rock on' sign…. that's not quite what it means in Italy…
The farm produces wine, honey, olive oil, tons of herbs, nuts, fruits and vegetables.  There is PLENTY of everything and Gianpaolo will give you what you need.  The honey is the most amazing, raw, organic thing in the world.  The harvest for olives and wine is in October, so we haven't done much of that, but we will be bottling and making honey.  The farm grows Cabernet, Aglianico and Fiano grapes.
Hopefully this helps!
