I finally found out which squad I’ll be squad leading!  It’s official… I’ll be squad leading the FUSION squad this January!!

This will be our route: http://www.theworldrace.org/?tab=routes&subtab=wr-fusion-2015

What is World Race Fusion?

WR Fusion is a new and unique route that includes multicultural participants.  In the past, most members on a squad were from the US, since it was very expensive for foreigners to travel to/from training camp and launch.  However, WR Fusion is breaking down those barriers for them and including people from around the world on one team together.  Joining the nations, to be sent back out into the nations.  It’s pretty neat!  This squad will only be the second Fusion squad to launch, the first one is currently in Guatemala on their 8th month.

In their words:

“Racers from around the world are coming together this January to launch the World Race Fusion ?(International) ?squad, bringing diverse world cultures and the unifying love of Jesus to the Race.

We are aiming towards international inclusion and cultural collaboration, immersing different worlds together celebrating diversity and cultural giftings. We want to take cultural awareness and development to a whole new level by engaging ourselves in language, customs, adventure and what it means to worship together as one body – no matter where you come from.

Community is an essential part of the World Race, and as a Fusion Racer, your community will be as diverse as the countries you serve. With teams made up of Racers from Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa, you will see your ability to minister in different cultures soar as you learn to serve each other, live together, and discover each other’s core traditions and worldview.

Fusion Racers will learn just as much from your community as from the partners and people you serve. The diversity of the World Race Fusion squad will minister more effectively, and will set up partnerships and ministry opportunities long after the Race is finished.

?We are much stronger as a unified body of Christ as we hope to set the foundation for the next generation of ministers to work towards Kingdom culture.??”

How did it start?

While I was working in South Korea last year, I was contacted about helping start World Race Korea.  Working in Korea was supposed to be my ‘step away from ministry’ so I could work off some of my student loans, then get back on the mission field full-time.  However, God had different plans (doesn’t He always…)  I started working with World Race Korea and fell in love with the team members.  We would meet every other week or so and contemplate how we will be able to build a base in Korea, excite Koreans to go on a year mission trip, and partner with churches.  We met with church leaders, Scott spoke at church gatherings, had a team retreat on Prayer Mountain, and drank lots of coffee, but it seemed like God was pulling us into a different direction.  The most feedback we were getting was not from Koreans, but from people from South Africa, China, England, Costa Rica, etc.  All of these countries that were not Korea.  So, we expanded and World Race Fusion was born.

I’ve only had a small hand in helping create WR Fusion, but it was fun to be along for the ride and now to follow through with my involvement while leading the second Fusion squad this January!

Fundraising Report

As of right now, we’ve raised $3,410 of the $6,500 I’ll need to launch, which is a little over half way! God has shown up in some amazing and surprising ways, as usual.  Thank you to everyone who has donated towards this mission and for those of you praying for us all!  Fundraising is always such a humbling experience and a challenge in trust, but God has used so many of you all to encourage me and show Christ’s love to me during this time – thank you!

I’ll need to raise $3,090 more before launching in January.  If you would like to support me as a squad leader, you can donate via check in the mail or online.  Whether you’re able to donate $5 or $500, EVERY bit helps.  If all of my Facebook friends donated $3, we’d be fully funded tomorrow!  Thank you!

Prayer Requests

A few people have been asking me about prayer requests, so I thought I’d write them all down here for you.  First, for the funding to come in so I’ll be able to launch.  This is probably the most quantifiable and easily visible prayer request.  Also, please be praying for God to choose the right people to be on our squad and to lead our squad. As of right now I’m the only confirmed squad leader, but they are planning on choosing one or two more.  Please also be praying for our training camp, which is coming up in October.  I’ll be at headquarters for a little over two weeks, which is a lot of training!  I’ve already purchased a flight home, but am still searching for how I’m going to get there, which is another thing to be praying for.  God’s still working on me with confidence as a leader and preparing me for this journey.  He has given me some incredible, Godly leaders to learn from and pour into me this past year, which I’m eternally thankful.  I know He has tons in store for me and I’m going to be growing a lot this next year!  Thanks for being on this journey with me!
