Humility.
Something I’ve been praying for over and over again the past few years.
Something I think everyone would benefit from getting a little more of.
Something I’ve seen more than I ever have in my entire life this last
week.

Africans amaze me.God has been showing me these past few days that
these people, different than any culture I’ve ever experienced, are just
like me.  They are humans and they are God’s children.

But, our ministry contact is telling us that these people look to us
like movie stars and swoon over us. We are invited into households and
waved to on the street just so they can brag that they greeted a
‘mzungu’ today. Everyone loves us and is so happy to hear anything we
have to say. gosh. Who am I? How do I deserve THIS? Even muslim
children are running to our church so they can hold my hand and play
with me. What an amazing ministry opportunity!

People have nothing and even the rich and next to nothing, compared to
‘American Standards’ and they are so ridiculously joyful and GIVING. On
Sunday, almost every single person rose up to offer their tithes, even
when they make hardly anything. Reverend Gideon and Mama have offered
us their homes, their food, their car, time and money. Chef offers us
his time and his passion for cooking. Jane works every Friday, all day,
to clean the house and wash our clothes. And the thing about it all
is, is they are so HAPPY to do so. They see us as God’s children, they
see their work as God’s work and they see their love as God’s love
pouring out of them. Now, isn’t that a way we all should work? Humbly
serving our brothers and sisters just as Christ has served us? Filling
up in Christ’s overflowing love so we can overflow it into other
people’s lives?

We worked with the Deliverance Church for the first time this Sunday.  Rachel made a video about it, watch it below!
