Thank you all for your prayers for health on our team!  Until yesterday we were the only team to withhold Malaria and be completely healthy.  One girl has been diagnosed with Malaria, but it seems like a fairly week form.  She has just been showing signs of having a cold and has been a bit weak.  Ashley, Ruth and I have both had nausea and got sick a little bit, Rachel has been battling a headache and Kelly a sore throat.  So, nothing too serious! Praise the Lord!

There are 3 teams in Mbarara, ours and an orphanage where 2 other teams are working.  Those two teams haven’t has as much grace as ours though.  Two girls were diagnosed with Typhoid fever yesterday and they are drinking the same water as our team.  Another girl was thought to have her appendix out after being diagnosed with appendicitis.  Although, when the orphanage kids found out she was sick they prayed over her and sang worship songs over her and when she went to the doctor’s the next day, nothing was wrong with her and she felt completely better.  Amen!!

Other teams have had more severe cases of Malaria (and lots of it), the flu, food poisoning, stomach ulcers, and all sorts of things.  Lots of health issues to be praying for.

Our team has had $220 stolen from our emergency funds in Busia and our finance person had her money belt stolen from her on the bus to Mbarara, with $100 USD, 350,000 shillings (about $140) and a passport in it.  The money belt ended up being returned (after lots of prayer) with the passport and her yellow fever documents in it,  no money, but thank you Jesus for providing the critical things!  Other teams have whole money belts stolen as well with lots more stolen.  Please pray for the safety of our team and provision.  Thankfully the Lord has provided for the passport and ways to make up for the stolen money so far!

Also, we received an update about the beginnings of the orphanage for the street kids in Busia, our last contact. As well as an update about Adhiambo, the street child with critical needs that we took to the hospital.  Here is the letter Gideon wrote us all:

Hi!
How are you doing ? We are going on very well. We managed to trace Ajiambo’s home but failed to get the brother. She was discharged from the hospital two days ago and we managed to pay the hospital bill of Ksh. 3302.00 but it was found that she was HIV+ and was referred to AMPATH. This is an organization that cares for HIV+ patients in Busia. So we decided that we keep her with florence because the wound on her leg needs continuous care and enable easier follow-up by AMPATH. To help with care we have brought Brenda (one of the street girls) to keep her company and assist in bathing her.
We have officially launched a children home and so far we have five (5) orphans including Ajiambo and brenda. We are not able to build a temporary structure because of limited funds however Florence accepted to keep them in her house and use the money to buy food and pay for medical expenses as we trust God to provide the rest of the needs.
My wife has decided that we will continue giving tea and mandazi to the street kids at least once a week. Thanks once again for enabling us begin this noble task. May the good Lord bless you richly. Please let us know how you are fairing on in Uganda. Send me your phone number so that i can call you.
Thanks and God bless you
