Yesterday I packed up everything I own and headed East, moving back home to Michigan. I spent the past weekend saying goodbye to friends and winding down my relationship with Dan; leaving him is so hard. Now I’m sitting in the Midway airport, 6 hours after when I was supposed to be in my bed and home already. On my connecting flight to Chicago I heard murmurs of cancellation and, sure enough, almost all flights out of Chicago that night were cancelled. They set up cots for us in Concourse C and about 300 of us snuggled in to the row of makeshift beds or found a “comfy” chair to curl up in. I don’t think anyone got much sleep last night, but they woke us up at 4am regardless and gave us bags with 10% food coupons, toothbrush, toothpaste and a few other necessities (which I was SO thankful to be able to brush my teeth!!) I’m sitting here eating breakfast and watching the news report about our situation and waiting the last hour until I get to fly home!

This next week is filled with wedding activities and preparation. Jo, one of my best friends, had asked me to be her Maid of Honor for her wedding on Saturday and I have lots to do to get ready for it. Then settling into back home and figuring out more fundraising things to do! I counted up the garage sale profits, coin collection from the guys around the house, donations from the roommates and what I have from Threads of Hope so far, which added up to $1000, that Dan will be sending in today. Thank you SO much to everyone for their help! This puts me ridiculously close to the next deadline on June 21st, now just figuring out the other $9000 haha

Please keep on praying for me for fundraising and for my mental health, as funny as that sounds. With the wedding, moving, breaking up with Dan, preparing to leave everyone for a year, fundraising, leaving my job, etc. etc. etc. I have had fits of being overwhelmed and stressed out. God has really been teaching me patience and organization, though be it the hard way, to prepare me for the trip. I am very thankful for this, in hindsight, but it’s hard keeping the right frame of mind to see God in the hard work. I’m thankful the message last Sunday was on Job, God has been teaching me a lot through his story this week.

Well, anyways, I have lots of time to kill at this airport, but I’ll try not to use it by talking your ear off 🙂 I love all of you and want to thank you so much for following my blog and for what you have been in my life! Thank you for the support and prayers and if you are a Michigan friend/family member then I will see you sooooon! WAHOO!
