It was 5am. I was in a half awake state, lying on my sleeping pad in the church we were staying at in the “jungle” of Nepal. We thought we were going to be living out of our tents in the jungle but that did not happen. Instead we were all sleeping on the floor of a church that was a 16 hour bus ride from Kathmandu.

The sun was barely peeking over the horizon when I heard the word “Fire!” coming from the room next door. I immediately opened my eyes. I was fully awake now. The word came again, “Fiiiiirrrreeee!”

Thankfully, there was no actual fire happening in the church. The man screaming “fire” was a pastor named Bipin who came with our group to the jungle to be our translator. He is one of the most interesting men I have ever met.

He is so on “fire” for the Lord that it radiates out of him every moment of every day. He believes and trusts so much in God and what the Lord can do.

One day at ministry while we were walking through the villages, a young boy saw what our group was doing and chased after us. He said he had pink eye and was hoping for prayer. We all circled around him to pray but were careful not to touch his eyes so that we would not catch the infection. Bipin, however, put his hands directly on the boy’s eyes to pray. We told him not to do that because he could catch the infection. Bipin just looked at us and said “That may happen normally, but the Lord will protect me and heal him.”

I was blown away by his faith. Not only for God to heal this young boy, but that He believed God would keep him safe and healthy as well.

Sometimes the things Bipin did seemed crazy, such as, shouting “fire” every morning. It was literally the first thing I woke up to every morning. But that was how he had his quiet time with the Lord. Singing, shouting and just praising his Lord. Sometimes when he was translating for us during ministry, it seemed like he was only half listening or missing some things we were saying. But then he would get very fired up and start jumping around because He was so excited for what the Lord was doing.

Bipin has so much faith and love for the Lord and love for all of us. At one of our chai stops on the way to the jungle, he paid for all 29 of us to have chai. His heart and love for us was so wonderful to see. We poured into him and he definitely poured into us. Our group was so blessed to have him with us! Praise the Lord for amazing friendships made around the world.
