I leave for the World Race in two weeks and I am so grateful that I was able to spend Christmas with my family before I go. BUT…

This was the worst Christmas.

My sister was not here because she is in France. The first time I have ever spent Christmas without her.

I was not able to get much sleep as I spent most of the night looking through my old pictures with my sister and wishing she could be with us.

I did not have a lot of money and wasn’t able to get my family gifts as I wanted to.

I had to say goodbye to many of my family members until after I come home from the Race.

I had to say goodbye to my wonderful grandma…I pray she stays in good health while I am gone.

BUT….

This was the best Christmas.

We were able to FaceTime with my sister so she could spend all of Christmas morning with us.

My twin got ALL of us incredibly thoughtful gifts even though he has NEVER gotten us gifts in the past. We were all blown away by his thoughtfulness.

I got to spend time with my wonderful family eating good food and opening white elephant gifts.

I got to spend precious time laughing with my grandma.

I watched as my twin snuggled my niece all afternoon which melted my heart.

I was able to spend a wonderful morning with my brother and sister-in-law.

My parents got me some incredible gifts, some to be used on my trip (a new camera!!!).

My aunt gave me a letter to read when I get homesick on my trip.

My twin, older brother, and cousin all donated to my trip. Which means I am officially under the $2,000 mark for needing funds.

My cousin and I had a mini dance party.

There was so much wonderful food to be eaten.

My twin got me a snowglobe lego set (to add to my snowglobe collection) and helped me build it.

Truly, this was an emotional roller coaster of a Christmas. But I thank God for every single moment that was spent together with my family. Soon my family will mostly consist of the S squad and my team. But I am grateful for every moment I get to share with everyone at home. I will miss you all terribly, but I am excited for what the Lord has in store!!
