After ministry and team time, it is right around lunch time. There are many food stands that I have eaten at on a daily basis here in Nam. They have been delicious and very cheap! But today there was this place I had ridden past on my bike every day on the way to the coffee shop that I wanted to try.

Don’t ask me what the sign says. I have no idea. I usually just look at pictures and point and hope for the best. I have yet to be disappointed. The desire to eat this particular food, however, had come from riding past all the locals eating it on a nightly basis.
Now you see, in the above picture, all the tables were set up and even the sign was standing, but when we approached it earlier that day at lunch time, the tables were all stacked and the sign was laying on the ground. BUT there were two local women eating the food so I knew they had to have gotten it from somewhere! McKenzie and I looked around trying to find the source of the food. Found it:

These wonderful people were preparing for the nightly rush of people that would soon be coming for their food. But of course I was hungry now and didn’t want to have to wait another hour for a chance to try this particular meal. McKenzie and I slowed our walk and looked longingly at the food. The women cooking could see that we wanted to eat the food and began pointing at it and then at us. We nodded vigorously and she smiled and started setting up a table and chairs just for us! I felt kind of bad but not bad enough to say no! I mean, how can you say no to this?:

The food was delicious. I was so grateful that this woman was so willing to serve us food even though her restaurant wasn’t even open yet. Sometimes being white has its advantages I think. But also, the people here in Vietnam are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They would do anything to help anyone and it is so amazing how kind they are. So glad I have been able to spend time in this country!
