Sometimes, instead of taking your off day at a coffee shop to get wifi and catch up on the outside world, you tell your host you will go with him to spend 8 hours on a houseboat.
Honestly, we had no idea what that meant. I could imagine “houseboat” but I had never been on one. Our host said we would be spending the whole day with the YWAM staff and the church’s congregation.
Spending a day in the nice A/C, catching up with friends and family back home, drinking many cups of coffee OR hanging out on a boat with many people who we have only met once and don’t speak the same language with no idea what is all on the agenda?
We made the right decision.
The boat was on a lake in a beautiful National Park. Being on the lake felt like being back in Wisconsin during the summer. The congregation and YWAM staff are wonderful people so we sang, ate, played games, and even swam together!
Never thought I would be swimming in a lake and riding a banana boat in Thailand! (Which was my first time and I loved it) It was an AMAZING day with a great ending of teaching our host how to play Egyptian Rat Screw (a card game). Thank you Lord for fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and a beautiful day with perfect weather to spend on the lake.
