Hello World!

My name is Emily Brinkman. I am 23 years old and graduated in December 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Biology from UW-Milwaukee. I currently reside in Germantown, Wisconsin with my parents and two of my siblings.

I have an older brother whose wife is pregnant with my first niece! Can’t wait for that! I also have a twin brother and a younger sister. Although my sister and I look a lot alike so everyone thinks she and I are the twins…

My favorite things (kind of like that song on that movie, you know what I mean): Jesus who saved me. My family and friends. Hiking. Coffee. Reading. Traveling. Collecting snow globes. Anddd coffee.

Right now, I am working as a CNA (certified nursing assistant) at Columbia St. Mary’s hospital in Milwaukee. I love my job because I get to take care and love on people all day long! I am also taking a summer class at UWM to help me as I think about my future and keep my brain sharp! (Because once you graduate, I think your brain turns to mush for awhile since it needs time to recover after all that stress).

The World Race is an incredibly exciting adventure for me! After graduation, I had planned on attending medical school this upcoming fall, but I was unable to get in. I felt very lost about what God would have for my future. That’s when He led me to the World Race website.

My heart has been for missions ever since my first mission trip to India when I was 16. I returned again to India when I was 20 and was able to see the impact my first trip had made in that country. I am excited to share God’s love around the world to so many other countries. (But India is on the list!!!!!)

I have been blessed to grow up in a loving, Christian home with parents who support me. I met God at a very young age and have grown up in the church. I am not sure of the time that I was actually “saved” because I had always known about God. When did I start living for Him on my own walk that was not my parents? That I would have to say happened in high school. The youth group at my church had a huge impact on me. The leaders were very caring and loving and helped guide me in the right direction of my walk with the Lord.

During the World Race, I hoped to be stretched in ways that I never thought possible. I hope that God will open my heart. I hope that He shows me the world through His eyes rather than my own. I hope to grow closer to Him than I ever have been before.

Thanks for reading this and learning about me! More updates to come 🙂
