I grew up in a home where I was encouraged to dream. My dad always encouraged Evan and I to set goals and go after them! From an early age, I remember setting short term and long term goals. Even though many times I have fallen short from achieving goals set before me, I have never stopped dreaming!
I did not realize until the past month how thankful I am to have grown up in a home where I was encouraged to dream- and give it everything I had to make those dreams come true!
Over the past two weeks during most of our down time each person on my team has had the opportunity to share their testimony and the story God has walked them through. It is a beautiful thing sitting in a room with six other women and being vulnerable about what you’ve been through and what God is currently walking you through.
Each time when someone finished telling their testimony, I would ask “What’s your dream?” It quickly became a known question I would ask everyone on my team.
Let me tell you these women have some amazing dreams! So I want to share with you not only my dream, but more importantly the dreams of the six other women I get the privilege to do life with over these next 10 months.
Meet Aryne Nicole Gardea:
Aryne’s dream is to become a nurse and work with an organization like doctors without borders. Aryne would also love to set up a non profit that donates subscription boxes for children with cancer. Aryne would also love to be a wife and mom.
Meet Fabienne Florence Boss:
Fabienne’s dream is to be a preacher. One of Fabienne’s role models is Bobbie Houston (senior pastor of the Hillsong Church.) She would also love to be a wife and mom.
Meet Frieda Renee Ibarra:
Frieda’s dream is to have a group home specifically for Latino girls in the United States to help them finish their education. The group home would also provide a bridge between their native culture and the American culture!
Meet Mollie Grace Jewett:
Mollie graduated from Auburn University with a degree in social work. Mollie’s dream is to work in a hospital with women and children who have been sexually or domestically abused. Mollie would also love to be a wife and mom and have a dog.
Meet Sarah Elizabeth Dickmann:
Sarah graduated college with a bachelors degree in both mathematics and accounting. Sarah’s dream is to use her financial experience and background within missions to spread the Gospel all over the world. Essentially her dream job would be a financial consultant for a mission organization. Sarah would also love to be a wife and mom.
Meet Shealynn Marie Hendry:
Shea’s dream is to become a fiction author. She would also love to travel to all 7 continents and all 50 states. Shea would also love to be a wife, mom, and adopt a dog in the near future!
Me:
My dream is to become an Elementary School teacher spending Christmas and summer breaks working with orphanages in Africa. I would also love to travel to all 7 continents by the age of 30 and be a wife and mom one day. And if we’re getting crazy maybe even write a book about the adventures God has taken me on.
I believe God has bigger and better dreams for each of our lives far greater than we could ever imagine, but maybe just maybe it’s important to start somewhere.
So what’s your dream?
Chasing after Jesus,
Emily Ann
