Hey! My name is EmilyAnn Rowe and I’m 29 years old. I currently live in Athens Georgia, but have only resided there since October of 2014. I was born in Upland California originally, but have moved many times because of my father’s job. I had moved five times by the time I was 18 and then have moved four times since then.

I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelors of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management with an emphasis in Event Management. After graduating in 2011, I moved to Orange County California to work for Disney, then moved to a resort in Newport Coast. I have been in the event planning industry, primarily wedding planning, for 8 years. After moving to Georgia I decided to take a break from my career and get a job that was a little less stressful. While working at that job, I continued to plan weddings on the side with the intention of starting my own wedding planning business in a few years. I have always known exactly what I have wanted to do with my life since I was 10 years old, that is until recently. Clearly God had different plans….very different plans!

I have always considered myself a christian, but wasn’t necessarily living a christian lifestyle. It wasn’t until the end of 2014 that I truly accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and even more importantly accepted his grace. Since moving to Georgia, I have been on a spiritual journey and have been purely living on faith.

I felt God put The World Race on my heart in August 2015. I prayed about it for awhile before I began the application process. I liked the idea of the adventure, but was as equally aware of the exhaustion that would undeniably come along with it. I honestly hated the idea of leaving my brand new home and community that I had created for myself. Not to mention I was heartbroken at the idea of leaving the love of my life, my little dog Tater Tot. I was finally comfortable and I didn’t want to give it up. But I realized that I wanted to share the freedom of God’s Grace, Love and Mercy with the world and I would be crazy not to apply. So here I am, on the race serving. Trying to make a little bit of difference in the world.
