Hello to everyone and anyone reading this!
My name is Emily Aguilera and I was born in the beautiful month of August in 1998 making me twenty years of age. I was birthed and raised in California and have not lived anywhere else for longer than two weeks. I may be weak when it comes to any kind of weather that falls below 70 or rises above 90 but if ya want to get technical, as a Californian it isn’t my fault.
I am most definitely a gal that values her alone time and prefers doing things on her own; if you were to have asked any of my friends five months ago if I was an introvert or extrovert, they wouldn’t have even hesitated in letting you know where I once stood. The reason why I bring that up is because of how radically changed my heart has become towards people. I LOVE PEOPLE. I used to only be able to handle a small group of people, maybe four at the most without getting stressed out. But in the past four months, The Lord has so clearly encouraged me to say yes to the opportunities I would have always immediately rejected. This is just one out of the several ways Jesus has revealed to me His faithfulness in providing the goodness he promises His people. Not only have I been called out of my comfort zone by going on missions with World Race, I am beyond joyful for it. Jesus has instilled within me this new heart of community, people, and fellowship I had been foreign to for so long and let me tell ya, it has already been a freeing way of life.
I am a super big supporter in the idea that the little things that happen in life are what gives value to the bigger grand scheme of things. With that said, here are a few small random facts about ya girl that will hopefully give you more of an idea about who I am as a person:
- I love the color yellow, it’s brightness is always something that is appreciated and noticed.
- I absolutely love writing, I have kept a journal for as long as I can remember. When I spend time with Jesus, that typically involves me writing many, many pages in my journal. In my experience, it has been the best way for me to clear my mind and fully enter into the presence of the Lord. Also, growing up I was always very adamant about the fact that I had a journal, NOT a diary.
- As said before, I do value alone time. I am someone who goes to the movies alone, grocery shopping, out to dinner, etc. I have never really viewed it as strange, in a way to many I think it can be empowering.
- Incredibly random but my favorite animal is a goat. I think they are the coolest animal out there and there is no argument convincing enough to make me think otherwise.
- Along with writing, I love to do things that pertain to art. I really enjoy painting and drawing, it is also another way I am able process things or just relax. I want to make it clear though, just because I like doing it does not at all mean that I am good at it. Do I still do it regardless though? Absolutely.
- I go to a community college called El Camino and I love it. My plan is obviously not to stay there forever but with money being an issue and a newly undeclared major, I have come to realize the blessing community college can be to so many, including me.
- The Lord has given the biggest heart for children, more specifically foster children. I have volunteered with a program called Royal Family Kids that has allowed me to pour into hurting and broken children for the past five years. The neglect and injustice that too many foster children face is the biggest passion The Lord has given me so if the subject ever arises, it would definitely be one I would be quick to jump in on.
- While I don’t get the chance to do it very often, I love being outdoors and going camping. If someone told me that I needed to live in a tent or a hammock for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t argue. While I am still learning the true meaning and weight behind this, I believe the less you have is better.
With all of that said, welcome to the end of getting to know me! For those who stuck around this far, I hope that you were able to learn more about my character and who it is The Lord has been molding me to be. I love Jesus so much and am so humbled by the fact that I get to serve with World Race. Please be in prayer over me and the hundreds of other people that will be seeking Jesus and spreading His truth through this program and many others like it.
