If I could recap them with one word, I would use 'passionate.' The Lord is passionate. I feel the need to say it again, the Lord is passionate! He is passionate for His people. He is passionate about His glory. He is passionate! He never does anything halfway.
"And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you." Philippians 1:6
He is passionate about the purpose He has placed on our lives, and He will it bring to completion what He has started in me and you.
My home was made in Kampot, Cambodia for the month of December. My team and I taught English three times a day in tiny huts outside of here we lived to some of the most easily distracted children. They kept us on our toes and made us better teachers as a result. Some days screaming and dancing around the classroom was the best way to learn a new word, other days telling impromptu stories was the best method. Regardless of the teaching tactic of the day, they would expect their "good-bye high-five" before they exited the hut.
We also had the opportunity to teach Sunday school, preach at church, visit those would lived in the huts around us, and host a village Christmas party. At the beginning of the month, our host asked me about MC-ing the event… I said, "Oh, sure." I had no idea what I had signed myself up for, but I volunteered my team-mate Thomas along with myself (at least I wasn't going to be alone in this). The Christmas party was much larger than I expected, with an estimate of almost 300 people attending) and I had to pronounce names that seemed impossible for me to say. After practicing with Thomas the pronunciation of a name a dozen times before I stepped out in front of the crowd, I still said it entirely wrong and proceeded to do it two more times. I can only hope the woman I was introducing wasn't offended.
As we left Cambodia, I pondered the goodness of the Lord. I mean, He gave us Jesus. He is letting me go around the world. For the record, I am a "normal" person. I'm not saying that out of insecurity, but out of a great appreciate that I, Emily Zimmerman get to participate in what God is doing around the world. He is passionate about the call on my life. A call to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to a world in need of Him.
*India recap to come 🙂
