Matthew 13: 3-9
“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop – a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. He who has ears, let him hear.”

A) Seed that fell along the path – represents when we hear a message/sermon but do not understand it and instead of searching for more we allow the devil to come and snatch it away before it can change our hearts.
B) Seed that fell in rocky places – represents a man who hears the word with great joy but because there is no root it last only a short time. The troubles of the world (death, divorce, addictions, etc) make us quickly fall away and forget what we have been taught.
C) Seed that fell among the thorns – represents the man who hears the word but is so caught up in the worries of life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.
D) Seed that fell on good soil – represents a man who hears the word, understands, and puts it into practice. He is able to yield a crop that produces a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
So my question is this: Which one are you? Do we hear something but don’t understand and soon forget? Do we go to camp become on fire for God and then get home and allow life to suck away the change we made or great joy that we had for a week? Do we let our struggles or difficulties get in the way of loving our Father and allowing him to make us fruitful? Or are we the type of people who love God will all of our heart, soul, and mind and allow him to use us to further His kingdom and to bring Him glory.
I pray that each and everyone of us will be the “seed that fell on good soil” and allow God is use us in anyway he wants to further his kingdom!
