Would You Give It
All?

If you have ever read the gospels I am sure that you are
familiar with the story of the widow who gave it all.  Yesterday while we visited the Roma community
this particular story came to mind.  In
Luke 21:4 it says, “All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but
she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

On Sunday we went to the Roma community and passed out some
clothing that we had bought.  Then after
talking for a few minutes they offered to make us some Turkish coffee.  Feeling it would be rude to decline we
accepted the offer.  While it was being
prepared we decided to play some futbol (soccer) with some of the children.  Within minutes this littler girl motioned us
to come over there for our coffee.  When
we got to the place we found six 2-gallon buckets turnover with new cardboard
placed on top.  They had prepared a place
for us to sit.  We sat and drank our
coffee and some of us played with the children while others communicated with
the adults.  One thing you should know is
that coffee is not cheap.  It is kind of
expensive for this country but they served it too us anyway.

Then after playing with the children for a little while longer
I was told that lunch was ready.  They
had cooked us lunch which consisted of bread and a bean stew.  It was really good and as I sat there and ate
I wondered what, if anything, they were going to eat later.  How can somebody who barely has anything be
so generous and give a stranger their food?
If I was in their situation would I be that generous?

Below are some pictures from the community.

A closer look at some of the houses.

Handing out some of the clothes that we bought.

These are just a few pictures to show how they live and what their life is like.
