This month we are working with an organization called
Children’s Hope.  It is a group of about
4 individuals who are passionate about helping the Roma people or gypsies.  Roma people are people who migrated from India to Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa as early as the fourth century.  Here in Macedonia they are a very low class
of people.  They live in houses made from
cardboard, old wood, and any other scraps that they can find.  They are usually uneducated and unemployed.  You will see the Roma children on the streets
begging for food and money.  Sometimes
they steal to get what they need other times you will see them digging through
the dumpsters for reusable items.  They
make little money by collecting plastic bottles and other recyclable items that
they can turn in for cash.

Children’s Hope was started just two months ago.  We were able to help with some of the
planning and give our contact ideas on what he could do to help the Roma people
along with helping him build rapport with the people.  The Roma people in this community are not
very trusting of others, but by showing God’s love big things can happen
!
