  1. Their
    toilet paper is scented.  (You may
    be able to find this in the US but I have never seen it
    before.)
  2. It is
    not unusual to see naked women in the daily newspaper.
  3. Sidewalks
    are used for driving and parking . . . not for walking.  (Watch out . . . you might get run
    over).
  4. According
    to the locals, anything goes.
  5. The
    Macedonian Denar is approximately 44 per 1 USD.
  6. A
    traditional food is called ajvar which is roasted red peppers and eggplant
    mashed together with garlic, oil, and salt.  It is really good when served with feta cheese and
    bread.
  7. They
    don’t use cents.  Everything is
    rounded up to the nearest Denar.
  8. They
    smoke everywhere:  in restaurants,
    on the buses, trains, and in the stores.
  9. It
    seems like there is a bakery on every corner.
  10. They
    come over unannounced and at any time, so you must always be prepared.
  11. They
    must have food at every event/meeting but they usually don’t eat it or eat very
    little.
