I’m Emily Werness and it’s that time again – we are saying goodbye to another country and another continent. And it’s off to month 9, Honduras, and our final continent! Time surely is a tricky tricky vixen as I told my team, Burning Joy/TLC, all the way back in Cambodia, our month one.

Some days it feels like I’ve been gone forever, but most days it feels like I can’t stop the sand from slipping through my fingers. So, what can I do? Enjoy the sand shower as it washes over me and take it all in! This past month our squad has been convicted to say adios to fear and timidity for real. It’s all about risk! We are 100 million percent secure, safe and anchored in Christ! What do we have to lose? Our pride? Our reputation? Are we afraid of rejection? Are we too focused on what others think that we lose sight of our Father’s face completely?? For me, these questions have been very real on this race, but TRUTH from the One who paid it all sets me straight and gives me strength and courage to really live.

Jesus humbled himself to the point of death on a cross. Adios pride!

Jesus wasn’t looking for crowd approval or to impress anyone…check out how he would boldly speak truth to the Pharisees, tax collectors, adulterous women, and children alike and enjoyed dinner with the lowest! Pretty wide audience if you ask me. Adios reputation! Adios comparison and approval from this world!

Okay, so the world did not recognize the Son of Man. The shouts of Hosanna welcoming him to Jerusalem were replaced with roars of “Crucify him!” a few days later. You want to talk rejection? The whole world rejected Jesus. We should count it a joy to share in even just a piece of what he went through. They rejected the Son of God…of course I will be rejected too! Time to embrace that! Adios fear of rejection!

From running after a group of university students by myself to invite them to English Club even after they gave me the, “this girl is CRAY” look to praying for people to be healed to feeding the homeless to pouring out the depths of our hearts and our struggles to getting a lip piercing…risk is happening. We’re going after it, trusting God and living it up, looking up to Him.

Here is a glimpse into what life in Albania has been like, enjoy!!

I’m Emily Werness and pray for Central America and that we just unleash God’s love on these people! And please keep praying for Nepal – God’s peace, his comfort, and trusting his sovereignty.
