Meet Team Rhema

We met at training camp… but none of us ever really spoke to each other… then all of a sudden team building was over and we were announced a team. As exciting as that was supposed to be we were ALL hesitant and a bit overwhelmed at the situation that we had been faced with..

       a) we were asked to leave our expectations behind about everything, including who our teammates were

but at the same time

        b) none of us had been in one single team building activity together more than once, which is saying something.

The initial shock almost brought us into tears, panic attacks, and questions such as “do I still want to race at all?” however, we went to eat a little Mexican, sip some sweet tea and milk we had been denied at training camp and started sharing our testimonies with each other…

After that, our worried faces turned into excitement and our awkward silences turned into funny noises, country music, and laughter.

After we worked with a food shelter prayed over homeless people and were blessed by preachers and women of the church we partnered with…and helped some hitchhikers … our 6 deep into a truck squeeze became a comfortable place to lay my head and relax because I realized that GOD sent these people to me and perfectly put our personalities, sense of humors, and different accents to create one FLAWLESS team that I could not be more proud to call my own.

Rhema is the spoken word of God. We chose this because it was brought up countless times during our stay in training camp and truly resonated with all of us. We have taken a stand as TEAM RHEMA to go into the world, with the spoken word of God as it is in the bible and in our thoughts and in our ears and in our hearts, to share with the hurting, broken, and shattered. We will bring them hope and we will bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth in Jesus Christ’s name
.

Emily Watkins: important team member (me)
I suppose you know me as quiet and outgoing at the same time, interesting, smiley, short, country, growing in the Lord, and would bend over backwards to make sure everyone feels welcomed and heard.
I love my teammates and cannot wait to spend months at a time with them!
