Hola from Honduras!

This month our squad is all together at a beautiful ministry site called “Zions Gate”!

The main ministry focus of Zions Gate are street kids. It all started a few years ago when I guy named Tony bought some food for a street kid named Carlos who was begging outside of Burger King. The next day Carlos brought some of his friends to Burger Kind in hopes to get more food. Tony ended up building a relationship with these kids and one day they invited him to come hangout at their home… a garbage dump.

Eventually, through a lot of faith and prayer, Zions Gate was started. The rent for this place cost $1000 a month. When Tony signed the lease he had about $400 in his account but the place has been running for almost 2 years now.

This place is really cool because some of these kids are actually doing ministry WITH us. Before coming here these kids were living on the street, scavenging through the garbage, begging, and waiting on their next high. Tony is a believer of making disciples who can make disciples, just like the Bible tells us to do. And that’s exactly what’s happening here.

Today, my team went out with some of the former street kids who are now a part of Zion’s Gate. We drove across town to the nearest hospital where we got to pray and share the Gospel with many of the family members who were waiting outside. It was so cool to see these kids in action, doing ministry with us. Two of the younger girls who were with my group were eagerly sharing the Gospel with an older woman and her child. They had their Bibles out, sharing verses to encourage the woman whose child was in the hospital. Even when it was my turn to pray for someone I could still hear them, beside me, praying under breathe for that same person.

It’s amazing how many children’s lives have been changed just because Tony decided to look up when day when he was in Burger King and notice the need around him. Even with everything he is doing now, PLUS taking care of 50 some World Racers he still has his eyes open… looking for more opportunities to reach out to these kids.

Now, I’m not saying we all need to move to Honduras and start a non-profit, but how often do we run to the grocery store or go out to dinner without noticing the people around us? There is ministry all around us. There are hurting people all around us. When was the last time you just stopped to look around and say “Lord… what can I do for you right now?”

In Philippians chapter 2 it says

“though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

It wasn’t convenient for Jesus to come to earth nor was it comfortable and yet he did. He did it because of his love for us. He did it because of his love for YOU.

I challenge you to start asking that question everyday. “Lord, what can I do for you right now?” You might be surprised to see just what God can use you for.

ps- I really wanted to upload photos but the internet isn't good enough for that so I'm sorry! Maybe next time 🙂
