In order to kick start my support raising and get some money flowing into my account we decided to have a garage sale this weekend. All week my mom worked really hard sorting things while my dad and I were at work. We got a little worried that the sale wasn’t going to happen because my grandmother had to check into the ICU in North Carolina and my mom had to leave to go be with her, but my aunt and uncle stepped in to help us.

The sale went great–We raised $570!! I was also able to pass out flyers and tell people about the Race. Quite a few people involved in missions came and we got to talk to them about their work and get encouragement and advice from them. And we are going to have another sale on the 29th-30th, so if you’re in the Atlanta area and want to donate items to a good cause or want to come by and check out what’s for sale, you should!!

Thank you to everyone who came and bought things, and if you’re reading my blog because of one of the flyers I gave you, thanks for checking out what I’m doing! If you would like to receive updates throughout the year as I post them from around the world, click on the link along the left side to subscribe to my blog. Also, thank you to everyone who prayed for the sale and I would ask for your continued prayers for support raising and for my grandmother’s health.

On another note, my dad and I went to REI the other night to get all my gear…I feel very hardcore now. I’ve literally spent two nights in a tent in my entire life and I now own some very legit camping gear. I think I was the most unknowledgeable, helpless person that the salesmen at REI have ever seen:) Good thing they were so helpful! Only one more week until training camp where I get to test out all my gear and meet the people I’m going to spend the next year with!!!
