Hola de Lago Agrio, Ecuador! Today is day two of being in Ecuador and already at the top of my list is to learn the language which is espanol. I know I can’t let that barrier of only knowing little of the language discourage me even though there are times where it has crossed my mind. The pastor and his wife took my team of girls (seven of us) to the market today. That was a adventure all in itself; from milk not being in a jug (it was in a bag) to seeing chickens laying on the ground half alive.
The smells of fresh fruit, people looking at me like I am white and the Ecuador people. I am in love with them already and it’s not that kind of love. It’s the kind of love that God has; there is almost no words to describe it, it is only felt. It is something that makes me know I am here for a purpose and I know there is no fear. The love I feel is just myself smiling even if I can’t understand what is going on in a conversation for five minutes but I’ll figure out how to communicate after another five minutes Goes by. I can’t wait to see what God does in my team and in my squad throughout our time out of the states. I know it isn’t always going to be easy but I know it’s going to be worth it because Gods people are always worth it.
