Being in India this past month I didn’t write a single blog. The struggle is still very real to write down everything that has happened while being in India. Yet again I am falling in love but it of course is a different love. The food, the beautifully hearts of my dear Indian friends, my teammates, colors of the clothing, chai time with friends, and the children from the slums. While thinking about what to write in a blog I read over what my family wrote in the journal they gave to me when I left for the race in January. One of the things my sister Laura wrote was “meet splendid people” and “have as many conversations with those in each country that you can!” What I love about being here is that I have been able to build relationships with people and hearing about their lives and getting to share life with them. As well as learning their culture and getting to eat their food. What you won’t forget are the times you took to sit down and hear about someone’s life and hear how God is challenging them. India was not in my top three countries to see on the route. However when I found out we were going to Nepal and not staying in India another month it took my awhile to be okay with it. One of my favorite weeks this month was helping out with Vacation Bible School. That week there ended up being about 139 and it was the first time they had done VBS! The lady who shared the Gospel with the kids said that they all raised their hands. I worked along side a group of average 20-35 kids that spoke Kannada and they weren’t from Canada either. We had a fun time speaking to each other during the week. Now my whole squad is leaving India and going to Nepal and I have to say goodbye to all of my favorite things in India including India chai, my new starbucks barista friends, all of the colors, and most of all the spicy food. We Will be spending month 5 in Nepal! Please pray for us as we go and do disaster relief work. Only God can give us words to say to the people we come in contact with. It’s going to be a hard month but there will be so much growth through it. Our squad has already gone through so much but we are all in it together and we have God on our side.
