This week in Trujillo, Peru there has been so much going on in my life as well as my heart. This week I have been able to see what Savage Ministries does. I was able to be part of Vacation Bible School in the afternoon from three-five as well as help out with English class in the morning from ten-twelve. I have never seen more eager children wanting to learn English. The first day the children were there a hour early because they thought it was at that time but they were also I think wanting to really learn english. By the third day we needed three teams to do english classes because there were so many children showing up for english class. In my team I have two very passionate teachers that I can tell have a passion for teaching and this week it has so growing for them and it has been amazing to see God stretch them. I have been learning many methods throughout this week and I know the children have as well because the have been using them when they come back for Vacation Bible School.
Vacation Bible School goes from about three-five and after that we say goodbye until the next day.
Thursday I decided I would say outside of the walls of our complex and try to build some relationships with the children in my language of basically no Spanish! It is something to watch if you have seen it you would know what I am talking about. Sometimes the children will talk to me for about five minutes in Spanish and I’ll say yeah, yeah, yeah and just hope I didn’t just sign up to go to planet Pluto. Later that night I found myself lying on my back helpless with stomach pains when only a hour earlier I was laughing and kicking a soccer ball around in the street. This made me ponder about how I really must not take any moments for granted but seize them all up when I can. I tell you soak up all those precious moments up because you never know when you will be lying on your back lifeless for a period of time.
During times like that God will reveal how precious life truly is.
James 4:14-15, “Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”
