People often ask the question, ” What do you think heaven will be like?”

I find myself asking, “What will heaven sound like?”

It’s something that comes to mind when I hear sweet sounds.  The sounds that give you chills… the ones that stir  your heart strings.  You know what I’m talking about – those that make you grin from ear to ear and nudge the person next to you and say, “LISTEN.”

Tonight, I heard angels.  I was nudging and grinning… even dancing!  The praises of worship coming from the youthful voices of vulnerable and orphaned children sounded like the pearly gates to me.

Their sounds didn’t say, ” I’m an orphan.”

Their sounds rang loudly, ” we are children of the King in the highest heaven.”

I closed my eyes and let the joyful noises of the Daraja Children’s Choir echo freely in the old sanctuary.

I was able to reminisce the familiar sounds and it brought me back to a special place, Kenya.  Nothing like the voices of innocent children praising their Almighty Father.  Hands lifted high, all twenty – four Kenyan natives stood their proudly and put my worship to shame.

I can only imagine what heaven will sound like.  I hope it sounds a bit like Daraja!

Perhaps even louder.

Maybe in heaven I will be able to understand Swahili without the subtitles.  It’s okay even if I don’t.

This gets me wondering… Why did God create sound?

He spoke everything into existence and if that was not majestic enough, He remembered to include the notes that would intertwine everything for His Glory.

I think He allows us to have glimpses into what Heaven will sound like – I got a sneak peek tonight.

Have you ever listened  for heaven?

Ask the Lord to allow you to hear His glorious sounds…  they will become audible.
